Ravi Solanki joined Indian Police Services (IPS) in 1981 and served for 13 years in the cadre of Assam- Meghalaya, Ministry of Home Affairs and Cabinet Secretariate, and later joined United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in 1994. He worked for 27 years in the United Nations and UNHCR and retired in 2021. He served in the countries of ex Yugoslavia (Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, and Kosovo) from 1994 to 2000, Russian Federation (2000-2003), Switzerland (2003-2009), Jordan&Iraq (2009-2019). He worked till February 2022 in the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHR)s regional bureau for Asia & Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand covering 22 countries notably, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, Iran, China, and Central Asian Republics.
